Discussion with Photos! On Black Alpacas and White Alpacas -
There's so much confusion over what is a true black alpaca and a white alpaca. This page aims to showcase and provide understanding and answer common questions on these rare coloured alpacas. Many people have not seen these alpaca colours and are going crazy with curiosity to see or own one of their own. Most of the photos are from a user who is part of Alpaca World Amino https://aminoapps.com/c/alpacaworldamino/info/ an Alpaca World community. To enlarge the photos click on them.

In the comments on this wiki I see a lot of people saying they caught a black alpaca or a white alpaca. Some are also not sure what makes a black a black and a white a white.
- If your alpaca has light cotton skin or fur it is not a white alpaca even through it may seen very very white and bright looking.
- If you alpaca has shadow skin of fur it is not a black alpaca despite how dark and black looking it looks.
Why? Because the colour labels must actually say it has either black fur or skin or white fur or skin. The colour labels on the alpacas are what determines the colour of the alpaca.
At the Farm[]
To see fur and skin color while at the farm click on an alpaca, then click on a button near the bottom of the screen called Info. This will open up a box like the one in this photo ---->
In this photo the fur color is Black and the skin is Shadow.
In Battle[]
When in a battle with a wild alpaca you can see what fur and skin color they have on the color labels. In this photo here can you see the color labels for fur and skin? -------> The alpaca in the photo has black fur and light grey skin.
Can Black Alpacas or White Alpacas be Bred?[]
In short no, you cannot breed pure white or pure black alpacas. If you have a shadow alpaca whether it is a mix or pure shadow if bred to another mix or pure shadow alpaca it will never produce a black alpaca sorry to say (I tried it but if you need certification you can experiment yourself). Shadows yes but not blacks. Same thing goes for white alpacas. The only way you can breed another white or black alpaca is to have an original alpaca that has black fur or skin or a white alpaca that has white fur or skin. Even so, unless your parent color combinations are such that you are guaranteed the possibility to get your black alpaca or white alpaca you may not get a black alpaca or white alpaca. Buying GMO technology(price tag is 1 million) is a certified way to choose your alpaca color but an expensive way.

To Summarise:
- If your alpaca has light cotton skin or fur it is not a white alpaca even through it may seem very very white and bright looking.
- If you alpaca has shadow skin of fur it is not a black alpaca despite how dark and black looking it looks.
- Colour labels must actually say it has either black fur or skin or white fur or skin.
- To see fur and skin colour while at the farm click on an alpaca, then click on a button near the bottom of the screen called Info.
- To see fur and skin color in battle read the fur and skin colour labels of the wild alpaca.
- Shadow alpacas and light cotton alpacas cannot create black alpacas or white alpacas. Parents must have black to breed black alpacas and white to breed white alpacas.
- Even if you only have one black alpaca or white alpaca with GMO technology you can breed them with a non black alpaca or non-white alpaca and choose the black alpaca or white alpaca combinations.
